American Airlines is expanding its operation into Ireland this summer by offering an additional 3 daily flights into Dublin. These flights into Dublin will operate seasonally out of Charlotte, Dallas Forth Worth, and Chicago O’Hare.
The seasonal flights out of those 3 hubs are scheduled to operate until October 29th and are an addition to American Airlines’ year-round daily service from Philadelphia.
American Airlines is betting on a strong leisure summer of travel this year, and considering that the U.S. is Ireland’s most significant long-haul market, AA is certainly on the right track.
Due to Covid-19, aviation operations between North America and Europe were put at an abrupt halt for much of the past 2 years. With the world reopening up, government lock downs cease to be a thing, and the removal of travel restrictions, airlines are building back their network ahead of unprecedented demand for travel.
No more Covid restrictions in Ireland
Ireland has no COVID-19 restrictions anymore.
Therefore, travelers no longer need:
- Proof of vaccination
- To fill in a passenger locator form
- To undergo testing before or after arrival
- Or to undergo mandatory quarantine
Also, Ireland has low internal COVID-19 restrictions. There is no mask mandate unless travelers test positive for COVID-19. All curfews, social distancing measures, and limits on gatherings are over. Bars, restaurants, and tourist attractions are open at full capacity with normal operating hours.

Connecting at Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport has 44 airlines flying to 180 destinations worldwide this summer. With more than 1,300 flights to Europe each week, over 700 flights to Great Britain, 200+ flights to North America, and almost 40 to the Middle East and Africa it promises to be a summer packed with travel opportunities.
Travel demand for Ireland
American Airlines is the only airline offering direct flights to Dublin out of Dallas Forth Worth and Charlotte. Out of Philadelphia and Chicago, there is only Aer Lingus (Ireland’s’ flagship airline), and United Airlines flying to Dublin.
This means that demand is extremely high out of those hubs. Flights that are still a month away are already at 90% capacity.
Flights in and out of Chicago are currently going for around $986.
American Airlines flight out of Dallas into Dublin costs around $1,384.
AA’s flight from Philadelphia to Dublin costs roughly $701.
AA’s flight from Charlotte to Dublin costs $1,300.
These are all rather high fares for an economy flight to Dublin from the United States. However, during the high travel season and due to rising fuel costs, this is to be expected.
During the low season, you can get a round trip flight to Dublin from the U.S. for around $400.
