Welcome to ROMBLON! The Marble Capital of the Philippines, home to the “Galapagos of Asia” (Sibuyan) and the cleanest river in the Country.

Romblon is composed of three major islands that one must visit–Romblon Town, Tablas Island, and Sibuyan Island.

The province’s marble is comparable to the world’s best. Trade plays a big role in Romblon’s economy by virtue of its location at the center of the archipelago.

The islands are blessed with natural playgrounds such as beaches, rivers, mountains, and diverse eco-systems, which offer tourists many opportunities for adventures like scuba, trekking, and snorkeling.

Here’s Team OAP’s Top 8 favorites in their Romblon adventure…

1. Cresta De Gallo Islet (Sibuyan Island)
Romblon: Sibuyan Island

When asked what’s the most beautiful attraction to see in Romblon, locals would point to Crest De Gallo. A five-hectare kidney-shaped islet located east of Sibuyan Island. Known for its picturesque views, powder white sands and turquoise waters. The island is almost secluded except for one fisher family living there.

I just love how we got the whole island all to ourselves.

2. Marble Shopping Center (Romblon, Romblon)

The marble sourced in Romblon, Romblon is at par with the world’s best, with export quality material giving it high value to sculptures and builders around the world.

What makes its special is that the Romblon marbles are mature making it very tough, unlike the Bulacan version that has the tendency to break up into small parts.

Marble is one of the most sustainable form of mining. The island is blessed with sizable deposits of raw minerals that do not run out because of its inexhaustible supply.

They have a lot of variety of marbles such as the black, green, blue, white, Italian white, century and century-cream.

But the most expensive are the 100-year-old century and the rare Romblon black (Black Onyx) marbles.

The marble shopping center is ther best place to buy intricate marbles ranging from small to big souvenir items.

You can find keychains, lamp shades, vases, sculptures and etc here at a low price.

For instance, keychains with customized engraving would go for P30, a medium-sized mortar and pestle for only P60, marble lamps for 650, ashtrays for P65 to P85, little buddha sculptures for P750 and beautiful gold century marble vase for P500.

3. Looc Fish Sanctuary (Tablas)

The Looc Bay Marine Sanctuary is a protected marine sanctuary in the middle of Looc Bay. It is host to more than a hundred different marine species including different fishes, corals, clams, lobsters, and turtles.

It’s one of my most recommended activities when in Tablas! Adults and kids alike will enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and feeding the fishes.

For those who don’t enjoy swimming, the floating house features a clear open aquarium at the center where you can feed the fish.

4. Bonbon Beach (Romblon, Romblon)

Considered as Romblon’s best and probably most beautiful sandbar.

Located just 5km away from Romblon town, the beach is a must-go-to-site when visiting the island, with frequent locals and foreigner visitors alike. Besides its beautiful 2km stretch sand, it’s unique feature is that it connects all the way to uninhabited Bang-ug island.

5. Catingas River (Sibuyan Island)

Just 3km away from San Fernando Town is Catingas River considered as one of the cleanest rivers in the country. We loved swimming in it’s cold and clear waters plus there are jump boards for those adventurous enough to try river cliff jumping.

Locals say your visit wouldn’t be complete if you don’t jump. There are three levels the lowest is an estimate of 15 feet, 25 feet, and the highest 45 feet.

6. Dagubdub Falls (Sibuyan Island)

One of the most visited falls in Sibuyan Island. It consists of 4 beautiful falls with crystal clear natural pools perfect for soaking and cliff diving. It is also famous for the presence of the “pitcher plants” – a plant endemic to the island and very rare to find in the country.

Sibuyan
There are a lot of unique and endangered plants found only in Sibuyan. One of them is the pitcher plants, a carnivorous plant that feeds on insects that have a pitcher shape feature. I heard you can take some home and plant it in your home.

7. Aglicay Beach Resort (Tablas)

Aglicay Beach is one of the first resorts in Romblon. It is closest to the airport with majority of it’s clients being internationals.

The shoreline features almost a half-kilometer stretch of white sand. Aglicay’s charm is different from Binucot, because in Binucot there are lots of resorts, but in Aglicay the owner owns the whole cove, so guests can experience a sense of privacy.

It is located just south of the town of Alcantara on the east coast of Tablas Island. It takes around 1.5 hours coming from Odiongan with an entrance fee of P100/person.
