Hyatt adds two independent New Orleans hotels: Travel Weekly

Hyatt has expanded its presence in New Orleans, adding two hotels: Maison Metier (formerly Maison de la Luz) and The Barnett (formerly the Ace Hotel New Orleans).

Maison Metier is expected to join Hyatt’s Unbound Collection this year, and The Barnett is slated to join the JdV by Hyatt collection in 2024. Both hotels are on Carondelet Street, one block from New Orleans’ famed Lafayette Square. The hotels are owned by the Domain Cos. and managed by HRI Hospitality.

Located in a 1908 building, the 67-room Maison Metier has the look of a Parisian luxury guesthouse. The hotel features the salon-style Bar Marilou.

The Barnett pays homage to the building’s history; it was once home to Barnett’s Furniture Store, a mom-and-pop fixture of the neighborhood from a past era. The hotel brings art deco and French modernism influences to the city’s Warehouse District.

The hotel’s culinary venues will have new identities, including Italian restaurant Josephine Estelle; rooftop and pool bar Alto; and music venue Three Keys. The Seaworthy restaurant will remain under the same brand and culinary leadership.

Domain Cos. partnered with Ace Group International to open the 234-room Ace hotel in 2016. Three years later, the partners opened Maison de la Luz.
